How do I get my Security Guard license?
- Submit a completed application and the required fee to the Department of State ($36.00)
- Complete the 8-Hour Pre-Assignment security guard training course ($50.00)
- Proof of/or Fingerprints ($100.00)
- You must be 18 years old
- Have not been convicted of a serious criminal offense
- Have a current NYS photo driver’s license or non-driver ID card

Security guard training schools and security guards have been deemed an essential business during New York State on Pause, the executive order issued by Governor Andrew M. Cuomo to combat the spread of COVID-19. This determination allows schools to remain open and continue training, but they must adhere to guidelines on student occupancy and social distancing, as well as appropriate cleaning and disinfecting protocols.
